Whether you’ve always dreamed of carrying on a conversation over the airwaves with someone half way around the globe, being an integral part of a communications team in a major emergency, reporting the approach of severe weather or just spending drive time talking with friends on your mobile radio - this is your opportunity to realize that dream. The Hillsdale County Amateur Radio Club invites you to join with almost three quarters of a million others in the USA who are enjoying this timeless and constantly changing pastime. There are no age restrictions and Morse Code is no longer required to get licensed.
Orientation Meeting
Saturday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m.
CANCELED - Elmer Session
Experienced Amateur Radio operators (aka Elmers) will be available to answer your questions in preparation for the exam. Saturday, August 20, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
CANCELED - Study Class
Saturday, August 27, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with half hour break for lunch (not provided, refrigerator available).
CANCELED - Exam Session
Saturday, August 27, 2:30 p.m. to completion. The session is open to anyone wishing to take the Technician, General or Amateur Extra exam. Exam candidates are required to bring legal ID and a copy of your existing active Amateur Radio license (if applicable), as well as providing your Social Security number or FRN (if applicable). See www.arrl.org/what-to-bring-to-an-exam-session for details. Amateur Extra exam candidates are reminded that the new question pool became effective on July 1 and will be used for this session.
Costs
Registration is free. No Nonsense Technician Class License Study Guide is free for PDF version, $7.99 for Kindle and Nook versions and $14.97 for paperback. Paperback version will be available for purchase at the orientation meeting. The exam fee is $15 per attempt. You may take the exam multiple times but you must pay the exam fee for each attempt. If you pass, you may immediately take the exam for the next level after paying the exam fee. Exam fees are cash only, exact amount is appreciated.
Self-Study
Class participates are required to self-study the No Nonsense Technician Class License Study Guide and take practice exams prior to attending the Study Class & Exam Session.

Where
All sessions will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 45 North Manning Street in Hillsdale. Park in city lot F on the south side of the building. The building is NOT barrier free so if you need assistance please let us know.
