Hallowed Be Thy Name: A Theological Study of the Nature and Work of God

When asked the identification of the greatest commandment Jesus answered that it was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and strength.  These three of course are not unrelated.  What we know with our minds stirs our the passions of our hearts and works itself out through the labor of our lives.  Ultimately Jesus commands us to love God with our whole being.  Theology or the study of God in His being and His work is a fundamental element to loving God with our minds.  That is, theological study must be an act of love for God by which we seek to know Him not merely to know aboutHim.  Rather than being a merely academic pursuit of knowledge, the faithful theologian seeks to deepen his relationship with his creator and redeemer.  For just as in any human relationship, we desire to know more about those we love so with those that love God; they will desire to know more and more of Him.  This course is a study in theology and its goal will not be the accumulation of knowledge for knowledge sake, rather we will seek to love God with more and more of our minds in order to deepen our capacity to worship Him..
