ABOUT THE EVENT: MUSIC HEALS 2016

Sex Trafficking is real and it is occurring across the nation, including right here in our own back yard. Sex Trafficking is essentially sexual exploitation based on threats, violence, or coercion. The victims of this heinous crime deserve an opportunity to get their lives back, but that road is long and challenging because of the trauma they were forced to endure.

Residential treatment programs specifically designed for trafficking victims such as Hope Rising, which is located in Northern Maine, and Amirah, a home situated in the Greater Boston area, are prime examples of what does work. There are too few homes of this kind in New England despite the overwhelming need and demand for them, so women from Maine may receive the treatment and guidance they need at Amirah, or women from other New England states may reside at Hope Rising.

In 2015, National recording artist and supporter in the cause, Steve Azar, wrote a song entitled “The Sky is Falling,” highlighting the sex trafficking epidemic. A local Maine high school student produced a music video for the song, which has been viewed by thousands across the country. And... a small but mighty group of committed grassroots volunteers gathered and organized a benefit concert and silent auction at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center. With the help of generous sponsors and concert attendees like you, we raised approximately $11,000.00 that evening to assist Maine’s first residential safe house, Hope Rising, as they were opening their doors.

Will YOU join us to make this year's concert an even bigger success?

On September 24, 2016, Steve Azar will be returning to Maine, and this time, he is bringing with him Deana Carter!

Please join us for a special evening of enjoying great music, building community, and raising funds that will go directly to caring for victims of human trafficking right here in New England. 100% of profits raised will go to aftercare efforts for human trafficking victims... and this year, we will be supporting both Hope Rising and Amirah House!

Regular tickets, Special Meet & Greet Tickets, and Sponsorship Opportunities are available!

Not Here Justice in Action Network is a grassroots effort focused on identifying a network of key stakeholders to address the threat human trafficking and exploitation, child abuse, sexual violence and gender inequality. Our developmental model is focused on collaboration and facilitation around common goals that address the needs of the vulnerable and the victimized. We envisioned a network of very different people and organizations uniting around this purpose. Our key stakeholders are law enforcement, social service agencies, healthcare providers, educators, business leaders and faith based organizations. Our hope is that these key contributors will rally around vulnerable communities and their members to create a culture of resistance to exploitative and abusive practices. We believe that community engagement is the key to overcoming injustice and oppression! Join us in declaring NOT HERE!
