PEER North 2025: Call for Speakers

PEER North is back! We invite healthcare professionals, researchers, Indigenous leaders, and community members to submit proposals for PEER North 2025, a unique medical education event grounded in northern realities, relationships, and relevance.
This year’s gathering will combine evidence-based continuing medical education with cultural, land-based, and community-led learning—designed for those practicing in the North, by those living in the North.
Airfare and accommodation for selected speakers will be covered.

We welcome session proposals that align with one or more of the following themes:
- Evidence-Based Medicine in the North
Clinical updates, primary care pearls, and rural & remote adaptations of evidence-based practices.
- Innovations in Northern Practice
Remote diagnostics, team-based care, health system design, and other creative approaches for better care in northern and isolated communities.
- Cultural Safety and Indigenous Health
Land-based healing, traditional knowledge, and culturally safe care delivery in northern settings.
- Climate Preparedness and Decarbonization in Healthcare
Preparing northern healthcare systems for climate impacts, and reducing emissions through practical innovations—from green clinics to sustainable transport and energy transitions.
- Healthcare workforce sustainability
Retention, recruitment and what makes the North a special place.

We encourage interactive, practical, and engaging sessions. Formats include:
- Lightning Talk (10 minutes)
Quick, impactful presentations of an idea, innovation, or story—great for sharing lessons learned, new tools, or pilot projects.
- Oral Presentation (20–30 minutes)
Research, clinical updates, or project presentations tailored to northern practice.
- Workshop (60–90 minutes)
Hands-on or case-based learning with audience participation—can include skills-building, simulations, or collaborative discussions.
- Panel Discussion (45–60 minutes)
Multiple speakers exploring a topic from different perspectives. Audience Q&A encouraged.
Have something else in mind? We welcome creative and non-traditional session ideas too.

We’re looking for:
- Physicians and nurses
- Indigenous health leaders and Elders
- Allied health professionals and administrators
- Researchers and educators
- Residents, students, and early-career professionals
- Community health workers and patient advocates
- Engineers & healthcare logistics professionals
We strongly encourage proposals from underrepresented voices, including Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2S+, and disabled presenters.
