A Compassionate End-of-Life Care Option: Medical Aid in Dying
Today, nine states and the District of Columbia have authorized medical aid in dying. However, each law is slightly different. Join us as we learn about what exactly is medical aid in dying and what we have learned from states where this compassionate end of life option is legal. Representative Paul Baumbach will also discuss his proposed legislation for Delaware the Ron Silveiro/Heather Block End of Life Options Act.

Representative Paul Baumbach grew up in Bel Air, MD. He received his Bachelors of Science from the University of Delaware and his Master of Science from Villanova University. While attending the University of Delaware, he met his wife Pamela. They have been married since 1985 and live in Newark, DE. Their son Michael and daughter-in-law Jacquie also live close by in Newark, DE. Paul founded a financial advisory firm in Newark in 1996. Paul served for two years on the Newark Housing Authority Board, and for two years as president of Progressive Democrats for Delaware. Paul’s current occupation is the Director of Investments for Mallard Financial Partners, Inc.
Maria Spencer is the Regional Campaign and Outreach Manager for Compassion & Choices and oversees the Delaware Campaign. Maria brings over twenty years of lobbying and advocacy experience at the state and federal level to the campaign including the passage of several pieces of legislation. Maria firmly believes that all Americans deserve the right to consider this compassionate end of life option. Her mission is to ensure that all communities are educated, empowered to fulfill their end of life wishes.
