Let’s Talk About Critical Race Theory, Social Work Practice, and Liberatory Consciousness.

In the last few years, we have gone through hardships and challenges unimaginable as a nation and community, battling COVID-19 and longstanding system discrimination. Social work practitioners have been on the frontlines and behind the scenes supporting individuals, families, and communities through these hardships and painful experiences across diverse settings. As we situate ourselves in 2023, we embark on opportunities to reflect and make new commitments. In this 2-hour webinar, we will come together, reflect, and talk about lessons and insights learned related to disparities and disproportionality we bore witness to within BIPOC communities we serve.

We will discuss critical race theory, what it is and how it can help us understand how systems continue to breed discrimination and create oppressive conditions in our society. Participants will explore and discuss the need for social workers to challenge colorblind ideology and embrace liberatory consciousness.
