2 Clinical CE credits

Objectives:

  • Attendees will become familiar with theories and perspectives related to environmental justice and social work.
  • Attendees will learn about a range of major environmental injustices
  • Attendees will recognize potential interventions and ways to alter their practice to incorporate environmental justice

With the profession’s micro, mezzo, and macro practice skills, social workers are uniquely positioned to address environmental crises, such as wildfires, temperature rise, and lead contaminated water.  On the brink of the 6th mass extension, never has it been timelier for social workers to participate in the equitable mitigation and adjustment to the human-induced environmental disasters.

This two-hour training overviews environmental social work, green social work, and First Nation perspectives, specifically the tenant of interconnectedness.  Attendees will be familiarized with climate and environmental injustices, which disproportionately impact vulnerable populations.  Highlighting Newark’s current lead water crisis, attendees will apply the various interventions discussed to this case study.

Join the community working to improve the well-being of the Earth and its inhabitants.
