Course Description:
This workshop focuses on how to incorporate an understanding of neuroscience into play therapy sessions with children. It includes ideas that can be used to assist with grief, anxiety, attachment challenges, and trauma. The workshop outlines an understanding of neuroscience and its effect on treatment. The workshop helps the listener understand how the neuroscience guides the practical application. It explores play-based intervention techniques of what to do in challenging moments of therapy. Incorporating an understanding of neuroscience, this workshop includes a wealth of tried and true ready to use practical tips for the therapy room.
Objectives:
•List three components of neuroscience-based interactions
•List 5 principles of neuroscience-based interactions in the therapy session with children
•List five play therapy techniques to address grief, trauma, anxiety, and school challenges
Time Schedule:
•Outline an understanding of neuroscience including how brain development occurs, and how trauma, and grief impact the process
•How to use neuroscience-based tips when helping clients with grief, trauma, and anxiety
•How to use neuroscience-based tips when helping clients with boundaries and limit setting
•Practical tips and play therapy ideas for difficult therapy sessions
Presenter: Chana Frumet Yaroslawitz PhD LCSW and Certified School Social Worker, has been working with children and families and educating professionals and teachers for over 15 years. Her focus is helping others understand how to incorporate practical tips by looking at the underlying root of the presenting challenge. Her passion is to create awareness in bridging the gap between current research and practice, funneling neuroscience into practical easy steps. She gives lectures on topics of relationships, Neuroscience, and Developmental Psychology and consults in schools, organizations and businesses. She has taught both research and psychopathology to Master level students and is in the process of writing books to generate more awareness on neuroscience based practical tips for professionals and parents.
