The volunteer ticket is just a tracking ticket for the admin to have a list of who is willing to help volunteer. You still need to purchase the early bird ticket. We would like to have at least 2-3 people to help set up the meeting room for the morning presentations and organize the food being dropped off at about 8 am. Another 2-4 people to help set up and break down for the lunch potluck. Another 2-4 people to help set up and break down for the dinner potluck. Another 3-6 people to help clean up after the evening presentations.
For those who have a +1 that is not a photographer, but just there to be with their spouse/significant other. Please note that if we are short on space, these +1's will have to sit out in the common area to accommodate those who paid full price and are there to participate in the event as members.
Tickets Purchased before Feb 20, 2017
After 2/21/17 ticket price goes up to $50.00

Winters in the North-land offer an amazing opportunity to photographers who are willing to brave the cold and snow. We can access areas that normally are inaccessible due to swamps, lakes, and brush. Frozen waterfalls can be especially fun. Taking photos in the winter can be a real challenge. Our cameras like to make the snow look a dingy grey, and all of the people in the shots come out very dark. Batteries tend to discharge quicker, and we need to take extra precautions to protect our gear. During the class we will discuss techniques for proper exposure that will make your winter scenes bright and realistic. This includes photographing falling snow, people, and dark objects. In addition we will discuss how to prepare yourself for venturing out into the cold, and what you need to do to protect your camera equipment.
Topics Covered: ° Understanding Winter Light ° Advantages of Winter Photography ° Exposing a Winter Landscape ° Photographing People in Snowy Scenes ° Working in Difficult Lighting Situations ° How to Stay Warm ° How to Protect Your Equipment

In this engaging and interactive FF workshop, you will expand your visual literacy through the process of structured image critique.Visual literacyis the ability to interpret, negotiate, and make meaning from information presented in the form of a photographic image. We often find ourselves asking for C&C in Facebook posts, but most often we get something like “I love the image”. While everyone of us appreciates this kind of comment, it is not useful, value-added critique that can move your art forward. We’ll expand your vocabulary by having you critique 2-3 photographs, using a structured critique format built on visual literacy vocabulary and cues.
