Marilyn and Larry Cohen founded the Naomi Ruth Cohen Family Foundation in 2000 in honor of their daughter Naomi Ruth Cohen who died by suicide at age 33 having lived with bipolar disorder. The first Community Mental Health Conference was held in 2002, and in 2008 they partnered with the Chicago School to form the Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education. NRCI's mission is to reduce stigma connected to mental health and suicide through education, research and community.

Heather Bodie is a public speaker and mental health advocate. She serves as the Executive Director of Erasing the Distance, a non-profit arts organization based in Chicago whose mission is aimed at disarming the deadly stigma that surrounds mental health through storytelling and facilitated conversation.
Before her time with Erasing the Distance, Heather spent 5 years working with Financial Sales Professionals to establish and sustain their businesses through candid conversation and personal storytelling. Heather went on to serve as the Chief of Staff overseeing a collection of start-ups managing 110 employees on daily operations and creating/implementing HR policies and procedures, with a focus on conflict management and emotional health.

Dr. Dana Laughlin is Department Chair of The Chicago School's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and a professional counselor who has worked in the mental health field for over 19 years. Her career started in community mental health working with a variety of populations including, but not limited to, addictions, dual-diagnosis, severely mentally ill, and co-occurring disorders. She worked in the Cook County Department of Corrections serving clientele who were incarcerated leading to her dissertation "Correctional Officers Bias and Perceptions towards Inmates who are Mentally Ill."
With a BS in Psychology from Illinois State University and MA in Counseling and Doctor of Education from Argosy University, Dr. Laughlin started her teaching career in 2016 joining The Chicago School in the Fall of 2021. Her teaching philosophy centers around the students with whom she has the pleasure to interact and educate. Her goal is to create and maintain an active learning environment that encourages exploration, evaluation, understanding, application, and synthesis of the material presented. Tracy Levine (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined NRCI in June, 2021 with over 30 years of experience in behavioral health and direct services. Tracy earned both a bachelor’s degree and her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. She also has a certificate in Non-Profit Executive Leadership.
Her passion for service and dedication to improving the lives of others is proven through years of leading programs focused on building resilience, strengthening family relationships, and supporting children, families, and emerging adults. Her experience includes serving in senior leadership roles at Chicago agencies providing child and family services, clinical services, and substance use disorders treatment. She has spent the past seven years in nonprofit management as the executive director of a disability services nonprofit organization providing direct services, groups, and opportunities for neurodivergent young adults to succeed academically, work productively, and live independently. In addition, Samantha incorporated executive function and neurodiversity coaching, education, and training to providers, educators, and caregivers to the services offered by the organization. In this role, Samantha supervised and managed an all neurodivergent team, and is neurodivergent herself.
Samantha is currently the director of programs and services with the nonprofit organization, Center for Independent Futures, whose mission is to form innovative partnerships to create service models, products, and opportunities to give disabled individuals and their families the skills and strategies to realize full lives.

Since 2007, Sue has trained & coached principals, teachers and staff at over 40 schools to facilitate SEL culture change through strategic planning and wide-ranging curriculum alignment with the Illinois SEL goals and standards.
Her work has assisted schools to nurture positive student behavior, mental health, conflict resolution, bullying prevention and increases in academic gains. Dr. Thomas Golebiewski has worked in schools for over 45 years, spending 26 years as Department Chair of Social Work at New Trier High School. He
has been an adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration, and is currently consulting to schools through
Northwestern University, School of Education and Social Policy and is teaching at Loyola University in the School of Social Work. Tom is in private practice in psychotherapy, counseling and consultation in Wilmette, IL, and a consultant at Wolcott School, an independent school in
Chicago. He is a frequent presenter for the Illinois Principal's Association on Mental Health Issues in Schools as well as a member of the Lake County
Family Violence Coordinating Council and a Lake County Court Approved Domestic Violence Evaluator and Treatment Provider. He is on the Illinois
Domestic Violence Fatility Review Commission. He volunteers at the Red Cross as a Disaster Mental Health Responder, is an Associate of the AKRice
Institute and a member of CCSGO. Dr. Golebiewski received his BA and MSW from Loyola University in Chicago and PhD in Clinical Social Work from The Institute for Clinical Social Work,
Chicago, Il. He is a Certified Teacher through the Cultivating Emotional Balance and Mindful Meditation Teacher Certification Programs and a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker.

Trilogy
Charlie Ford currently works in the Supported Employment Program at Trilogy Behavioral Health as a Team Leader, helping people who have severe and persistent mental illnesses find and maintain a job of their choosing, using evidence-based practices as interventions. Charlie graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Family Studies with a minor of Women’s Studies and has been an advocate for LGBTQIA+ inclusion for most of his life. Between his human services background and a career in mental health, Charlie enjoys helping others understand the unique strengths and challenges of the LGBTQIA+ community in the workplace and in the community.
