4 Clinical CEUs

This four hour training will review the basic assumptions of the Internal Family Systems Model of Psychotherapy. In addition to learning about the different components of the model a number of healing steps or processes will also be presented. The last hour of this training will be a demonstration of the model via a video session clip or a live demonstration with a volunteer participant.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be better able to:

  1.  Describe the history, development, basic assumptions, basic concepts (multiplicity of mind, Self, Parts), and goals of the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS) of therapy.
  2. Discuss and explain the basic understanding of the systemic aspects of the model and at least three IFS strategies or interventions (naming, welcoming, unblending, witnessing, retrieval, unburdening) which promote and allow integration, harmony, and balance in the inner system.
  3. Identify at least five characteristics (curiosity, compassion, confidence, courage, clarity, creativity, connectedness, calmness) of the IFS concept of Self and the role and effectiveness of Self Leadership in the system.
  4. Assess the therapeutic relationship as it applies to the IFS therapist.
