Welcome to Broadway Murder Mysteries Where You Can: Play The Part Or Solve The Crime!

Tonight’s Murder Mystery is:

It’s 1985, and real estate developer and “entrepreneur” Whit Wiley has just cut the ribbon opening the newest marvel in his shopping mall empire: the Wiley Waterside Galleria Mall in Malibu.  Here, you could buy a wide range of Wiley- family branded products: ties, steaks, even handbags designed by his precocious daughter Willow Wiley.

Whit was to top the Forbes list of most rich and powerful men of 1985 - until he washed up in the mall fountain, strangled by his skinny tie.  Who could be responsible for the murder of this influential businessman?  Was it his first wife Wilhelmina Wiley, seeking revenge for Whit Wiley's many extramarital affairs?  Was it local super shopper Connie Sumer, angry over the Galleria’s inflated scrunchie prices?  Or was it fashion designer Cal Von Cline, who objected to Wiley's appallingly gaudy bad taste?

Time to whip out that credit card and tease that hair as big as it can go - we’re shopping for a murderer in 80’s Mall Murder Madness!

The Experience

Join your host Brandon Hicks, with a special virtual appearance from Broadway’s Marty Thomas (Xanadu/ Wicked/ The Secret Garden) on a virtual night of murder mystery fun where you can: Be A Character in the Murder Mystery and Act “On-Stage” or Be A Detective and remain “Off-Screen” while watching the comedy at play and helping solve the crime!  The evening finishes with awards for performers and more!  Join us an awesome 80’s evening you won’t soon forget!

Two Options to Buy:

Please note: All “On-Stage Character” ticket registrations close at 4:00pm on March 4, 2021 in preparation for the event.  “Off-Stage” Detective ticket registrations close at 7:45pm on March 4, 2021.

1) Play the Part – show off your acting chops on the Playbill Virtual Stage for everyone in attendance to see and be sure to invite your friends and family to watch you perform!

There are (up to) 15 characters available in 80’s Mall Murder Madness. Our host will be acting as the casting director for the event and you’ll be assigned a role to play prior to the event. You never know which character you’ll get to play and that’s half the fun!  All roles will be assigned within 48 hours of your ticket purchase and your "scripts" will be sent in advance (no need to prepare!). Prior to “showtime” meet the other performers in the virtual “green room”, receive your virtual backdrops, learn how the game is played, get pointers from the “director”, then it’s Lights, Camera, Murder!  At the end of the event, our host will be giving out awards, including a special prize! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity geared for performers (ages 18+) to shine! BUY NOW as SLOTS ARE LIMITED!

2) Solve the Crime - Participate “offstage” and behind the “scene of the crime”, while our characters perform the murder mystery! Be tasked with figuring out who the killer is, chat with other detectives throughout the event (and show your performers love and support)!  At the end, you get to guess who you believe the killer is – get it right and you win! This is a great ticket for you to also watch and support your friends/family acting on Playbill’s Virtual Stage!

Ticketing*:

Play The Part as an On-Stage Character - $24.99

Solve The Crime as an Off-Stage Detective - $9.99

*Upon registration (with either ticket option), you will receive an email with a unique link to access your online experience at the appointed date and time. Please do not forward as it contains your personal access link. There is one registration per concurrent device.

Please note: All “On-Stage Character” ticket registrations close at 4:00pm on March 4, 2021 in preparation for the event.  “Off-Stage” Detective ticket registrations close at 7:45pm on March 4, 2021.  Please also note, this event may be recorded for marketing purposes only. If you are invited "on stage", you and/or your likeness may be used in upcoming advertising for Broadway Murder Mystery Events on Playbill.com and affiliated social media handles.

About Broadway Murder Mysteries

Broadway Murder Mysteries was created during the COVID-19 crisis in March of 2020, when many Broadway performers, writers, marketers, and talent were out of work. The Broadway shut down caused a massive effect on the theater community, and Broadway Murder Mysteries was created to give jobs to out of work talent, while creating something inherently theatrical that theater and mystery fans would love. For more information and to register for an upcoming session of our free webinar on “How to Host the Ultimate Murder Mystery Party” and learn everything you need to know about planning, prepping, and playing any of our games, click here!
