This is a one time event that I am offering to help people who live within driving distance of The Old Paulding Jail preserve precious memories of family and friends.
I am not a professional photographer but I do know how to run the film converter, how to do minor film splicing should a reel break, as that does happen now and again when we are dealing with old film reels. I can do minor editing for lighting and resolution. I have converted many of my own families 8mm and super 8mm film reels and they look wonderful. Keep in mind, these old movies will never have the quality like watching a movie in a theater, so don't get your expectations set too high LOL.
I own the film reel converter and it is nearly new. It will do 3" and 5" reels, 8mm or super 8mm. It does not convert sound. Most of these films will not have sound anyway. The center of your reel does NOT have to look like the reels in the photo below as I have adapters. Reels must be in decent condition and not covered in debris.
I will not accept mail in reels and I will not mail out anyones reels. I could not live with myself if the mail lost someones memories. The date of this event is the date the reels can be dropped off at The Old Paulding Jail, located at 112 South Williams Street, Paulding, Ohio, 45879.
Reel drop off is anytime between Friday November 15th at 7pm-10pm, Saturday 12noon to 8pm and Sunday November 17th 1pm until 8pm. No drop offs earlier then 7pm on Friday as I won't arrive until that time.
After your reels are dropped off, rest assured, I will get right to work on them and they will not leave the building until you come pick them up.
Your film reels will be converted to MP4 files on a memory card. You will only need to add 1 memory card to your cart as it will hold a bunch of reels. All your reels / files will be saved on 1 memory card. And yes, 8mm and super 8mm files can be put on the same memory card together. I can only provide 1 memory card / copy of your reels. You can make copies of your memory card at home or burn a dvd at home of your movies.
Please see the picture below to determine if you have a 3" or a 5" reel and choose the correct reservation as there is a big difference in the amount of time it takes to convert the two sizes and I can only convert a certain amount of film reels in a weeks time.
Pickup will be Friday November 22, 7pm-10pm, Saturday November 23, 12noon to 8pm and Sunday November 24, 12noon to 5pm. You will have them in time for sharing and reliving precious memories with family and friends for the upcoming holidays!
As far as refunds go, there is no refunds on custom items or reservations. This is both.
