Advanced Silver Techniques: Findings and Finishes

Monday mornings 9:00 am to noon, 6 weeks.

Learn to make your own findings! Crafting your own end caps, connectors, catches and earring wires allows you to control the entire creative process. Not only will you save money using scraps and pieces of your silver, but you can create your own signature style.

Students will also be shown how to make a jig for duplicating designs, and a wire cross-over punch.

This class is great for the student that has been thinking about venturing into our advanced class. The projects are easy and can be done with a small torch- making this a great way to practice at home during the summer break!

Materials for this class: 18 & 20 gauge sterling wire and 24 & 26 ga sterling sheet are recommended, but if you have heavier sheet you can roll it down. Students may also wish to bring some leather cord or commercially made velvet cord or ribbon to use as alternatives to chain.

A list of recommended material amounts will be sent to registrants.

Classes are conducted by volunteer members of the Oxnard Gem & Mineral Society, under the the auspices of the City of Oxnard, Dept. of Recreation.
