Dentistry....fine dentistry....has come a long way from the restoration of brokendown teeth alone. Now we see the mouth as a component of the body. Now we see our role as physicians of the body with a concentration on the mouth. We foster greater full body wellness as opposed to just managing dental symptoms. However, the road from restorative dentist to comprehesive dentist now involves consideration of how the airway affects development and the etiology of disease.
This course is designed specifically for the Kois group. It will review the rationale behind "airway thinking", items to add to your patient assessment, the variety of approachs for intercepting airway problems along a complete timeline of ages and stages, and a demonstration of some of these techniques.
Additionally, guest lecturer, Dr. Mark Cruz, my co-teacher of the Airway Mini-Residency, will address the significance of airway flow limitation in the comprehesive practice including its effects on dental trauma, restorative design, TMJ function, sleep, and stress-driven comorbidities.
There are 16 AGD credits offered for this course.
