STORYBOARDING A SONG FOR ANIMATION Subject and purpose: Right when you least expect it, you may have to storyboard a song. Do not be alarmed. It is still storyboarding. Only now it has a beat. No, it is not a “video-clip”. Remember, tell a story. The music and lyrics should only enhance the story and provide a fun challenge for visual interpretation. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce to the process of conveiving and organizing a sequence of animated scenes to illustrate a given song or song sequence: listen to the song carefully, find the beat, visualize it, time it, sketch it out and prepare an audiovisual narrative using a modest and simple app like Powerpoint or Keynote to show to your audience. Given material: Storyboard panel sheets, the song in various versions/covers and two character design styles to choose from.

Each portrait should depict a different emotion e.g. surprise, indifference, boredom, anger, delight, uncertainty, despair. Also make a drawing, in the same format, of an object on a table. The object can be organic, like a plant, or man made, like a tea pot. Please bring these drawings to our first session on Monday 6 May 2019. During the week you will contemplate how your object on a table is affected by your self portraits. The eyes of your portraits will be staring at the object and will transform it, as if you were hypnotising it through your changing emotions. Midway through the project the project you  can introduce words drawn on the same format paper. The words should relate to the theme of the workshops ( love, hate, art, ugliness, faith, heresy, life, death etc). The second half of the project should be spent photographing all the relevant

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference ? Elie Wiesel Animation Week will be a set of workshops revolving around social issues of hate, aggression, indifference. Are the “three wise monkeys” really that wise? The Week will finish with an evening of talks and screenings from our guests, accompanied by a get-together at Kino Muranów.
