Topic Overview:
“Mitigating Disease Transmission with Germicidal UV-C”
This presentation will briefly discuss the basics of Germicidal UV-C technology and its ability to inactivate all known microorganisms including viruses, mold, bacteria—even drug-resistant superbugs. The presentation will cover infectious diseases and how they can be inactivated in airstreams with the UV-C wavelength. The presentation will also cover ASHRAE’s position on UV-C, as well as the different applications of UV being used to mitigate the transmission of airborne diseases as well as maintaining HVAC efficiency.
Speaker Bio:
Daniel Jones has served the HVAC community for more than three decades, helping to educate and train facility managers, specifying engineers and industry professionals with an emphasis on airstream disinfection and surface treatment technologies. The president and co-founder of UV Resources, Daniel Jones is the author of numerous articles on germicidal-UV airstream and surface disinfection. Mr. Jones is an active member on several ASHRAE Technical Committees, including corresponding member of TC 2.9, Ultraviolet Air and Surface Treatment, and the standard project committee for ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 185.2.
