ITEA: A Quality Improvement Journey

By

Bonnie Bloomquist, M.ED., CQA(ASQ) and Anne Chenoweth, MBA, MT(ASCP)CM,
CQA(ASQ)

Presentation Overview:  ASQ’s International Team Excellence Award (ITEA) is the world’s premier team recognition program—awarding achievements in improved performance in businesses of all sizes.  Awards are offered at the Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels.  Organizations in more than 20 different industrial classifications have received the Gold award.  The opportunity to be recognized at a Gold, Silver, or Bronze level is a participation bonus for organizations who choose to seek that recognition.

This presentation will focus on the preliminary round where teams are provided feedback based on the framework to further improve their project presentations before the final round and award recognition on a world stage.

Speaker Biographies:

Bonnie Bloomquist received her graduate degree from The American University in Education and Organizational Development, with a focus on Behavioral Health Sciences.   Her career began in behavioral healthcare as a clinician where she worked for 10 years at Washington Adventist Hospital where she reportedly caught the “quality bug” and stumbled upon the expansive field of clinical trial conduct.

Bonnie initially joined ASQ in 2000 while working at the American Red Cross in the manufacturing division.  She is an active member of this local ASQ chapter and is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor.  She has conducted training, and written instructor and learner material guides on a range of topics including leadership, regulatory compliance and ASQ tools.

Anne Chenoweth is the Senior Director of the Accreditation and Quality Department for the AABB (formerly known as the American Association of Blood Banks), the global leader in accreditation of transfusion, donor and cellular therapies. She obtained her Masters from Johns Hopkins University and her certification as a quality auditor from the American Society for Quality.

In 2008 Anne become a surveyor for the International Society for Quality in Healthcare and has performed surveys around the world.  She has also spoken to numerous societies and associations about quality and performance improvement topics.
