Assisted Stretching and Mobility Training Course Outline

Target Audience: Licensed Massage Therapists, Personal Trainers, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Pilates instructors and other movement practitioners. 

Program Overview

The Assisted Stretching and Mobility Training course prepares licensed massage therapists with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to integrate effective assisted stretching techniques into their practice. This course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training to enhance client mobility, flexibility, and overall well-being while maintaining safety and adherence to professional standards.

Program Goals

By completing this course, participants will:

  • Understand the principles and benefits of assisted stretching.

  • Learn static and assisted stretching techniques safely. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of muscle anatomy and biomechanics.

  • Identify contraindications and precautions for assisted stretching.

  • Perform functional movement assessments to determine flexibility needs.

  • Apply targeted stretching techniques for the neck, upper, and lower body.

  • Develop customized stretching plans within the scope of practice.

  • Integrate assisted stretching safely into massage therapy sessions.

This course is delivered through live, in-person instruction, incorporating lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Each day includes practical application, Q&A sessions, and competency assessments to ensure comprehensive learning and skill acquisition.

Instructor Qualifications

Kevin Pedrey, LMT, CPT, Health & Wellness Coach
Kevin has extensive experience in assisted stretching and mobility training. He specializes in mobility techniques to treat conditions like frozen shoulder, whiplash, work injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and neuropathy. In addition to teaching weekly group classes on mobility, self-care, and pain management, he trains professionals in assisted stretching techniques, drawing from his functional movement and rehabilitation expertise.

Assessment & Certificate of Completion

Participants will be evaluated based on:

  • Practical demonstrations of assisted stretching techniques.

  • Hands-on competency assessments conducted by the instructor.

  • Participation in class discussions and Q&A sessions.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for 20 CE hours after completing all course components.

Course Structure & Schedule

Day 1: Foundations, Anatomy, and Client Assessments
Total Time: 4 hours (240 minutes)

Day 2: Stretching Protocols for Lower and Upper Body
Total Time: 8 hours 10 minutes (490 minutes)

Day 3: Cervical, Elbow, Wrist, and Shoulder Protocols
Total Time: 7 hours 50 minutes (470 minutes)
