BASIC SELF-DEFENSE
This session of Basic RAD will take place on September 12, 14, 19 & 21 from 6:00 - 9:00pm at Auburn City Hall [Community Room, Second Floor]
RAD is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The RAD system is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, and progresses on to the basics of hands-on defense training.
RAD is not a martial arts program. It is designed to help women by teaching a strong foundation of awareness, risk reduction and avoidance strategies.
The program discusses the "associated pattern of encounter," the decision to resist and the legalities associated with justifiable resistance. The course moves on to a thorough discussion of confrontational dynamics, basic physical defense principles, the postures of conflict, personal weapons of the body and selected target areas designed to stun an aggressor and allow the student to escape. Then, the physical training begins...
Starting slowly, the program systematically covers the basics of stances, yelling, movement, blocking, striking and kicking. At the completion of the program, you will be able to say:
"I am prepared. I am capable. And I WILL survive, no matter what!"
RAD is for EVERY woman - no matter what size, no matter what age, no matter what skill level.
RAD is realistic. It is empowering. And it is FOR YOU.
Cost is $25 per person. Previous attendees are welcome to attend for free (*with signed manual).
