Cornell Thomas first picked up a basketball at the age of 16 years old. Determined to get better he spent countless hours honing his craft which eventually led to him becoming an all conference and all region player at Sussex County Community College, and the first player in program history to receive a full scholarship. Cornell played at Minot State University in North Dakota, and then came home and started training with NBA and overseas players.
He received a contract to play professionally in Lisbon Portugal, until a career altering injury steered his life towards coaching. Cornell became the head men's college basketball coach at his alma mater SCCC in 2004, and went on to have the best season in school history (20-10) and develop over 8 all conference players, and a two time all american. At this time Cornell started Crossroads Basketball to help players in the area develop on and off the court. In the last 15 years Crossroads Basketball has sent over 75 kids to college to play basketball.
After six years at SCCC Cornell went on to become an assistant coach at boys basketball high school powerhouse Blair Academy, under hall of fame coach Joe Mantegna. In his seven years at Blair Cornell helped the Bucs achieve two state championships, three conference titles, and helped the development of about a dozen future professional players.
