This workshop focuses on conducting research on the Russian-language Internet (RuNet), taking place on April 25, 2025, 9:00AM - 1:00PM EDT (New York) / 03:00 PM – 07:00 PM CEST (Amsterdam), and covers the following topics:

Conducting research on the RuNet: 

  • Researching topics in Russia, Ukraine, and other post-Soviet states via the Russian-language internet (RuNet)
  • Using Russian-language social networks and other platforms commonly used in post-Soviet states
  • Navigating data leaks from post-Soviet states
  • Facial recognition capabilities and pitfalls on the RuNet

 Please note: a basic reading knowledge of Russian language is strongly recommended!

You will be registered as a participant only after we have received full payment of the workshop fee;

If you cancel your registration up to one week before the start of the workshop, you will be refunded the total workshop fee, minus EUR 25 (+ VAT and fees) (administrative costs);

If you cancel within six to two days before the start of the workshop, you will be reimbursed 50% of the workshop fee. If we are able to replace you with a waiting list candidate, then the total fee (minus EUR 25 (+ VAT and fees)  administrative costs) will be refunded.
