Tiernan Murphy is the Owner and Founder of Making Waves Swim School, headquartered in Brampton, Ontario. Founded in 1994 Making Waves Swim School employs 300 plus staff and teaches over 8000 lessons per week across five purpose-built facilities. He holds an Hon. BSc. in Kinesiology from the University of Guelph. Tiernan is a passionate member of the Aquatics industry locally and Internationally. He has served as a Board member of the United States Swim School Association and assisted in the formation of the Professional Aquatics Council in Ontario. Tiernan loves being by the water, cooking and spending time with friends. He lives in Brampton with his wife, Stephanie, and three children.

With a life-long love for water and a passion for the health and safety of children, Lisa is the owner and operator of three dedicated swim schools in the Greater Toronto Area, having brought Aqua-Tots Swim Schools to Canada in 2016. Aqua-Tots Swim Schools has more than 150 schools worldwide in 14 countries and has been in operation since 1991. Prior to Aqua-Tots, Lisa spent almost two decades working in marketing communications in the health and wellness sector. Lisa, her husband Peter and children Simon and Alex, live in Toronto and are active members in their community.

Julia Surette is a passionate and dedicated individual who thrives on leading, creating, and aiding in every project she undertakes, from co-founding Brave Waves Swim School with her sister Jessica to her diverse life pursuits, including world travel, culinary adventures, and professional opera singing. Originally from Richmond Hill, Canada, Julia was raised in southern California where her passion for swimming first formed, eventually leading to competitive swim and teaching lessons in the backyard pool. Brave Waves Swim School blossomed from those early days, and today Julia leads the organization in all commercial and customer-facing aspects with Jessica leading all operational functions. Outside of the pool, Julia is a graduate of McGill University and has a masters in opera performance from The Royal Academy of Music in London, UK. She made her opera debut in London and continues performing in Canada and the US, with her most recent performance being with the Oakville Symphony earlier this month. Brave Waves Swim School is a full service learn-to-swim facility in Paris, ON, offering a complete range of programs supporting swimmers of all ages, skill levels and abilities. Brave Waves is dedicated to their mission of creating swimmers for life - preparing students for any kind of water, any kind of reason. With un unwavering commitment to excellence and inclusivity, Brave Waves continues to ensure accessible swimming lesson opportunity in Brant County and the surrounding areas.
