Charlotte, NC - BULZiBUCKET, a popular indoor/outdoor interactive game that combines the feel of cornhole with a three-tiered bucket targets, will hold its first annual National Championship tournament this August at Lenny Boy Brewing Co. This tournament is highlighted by a FREE Entry and $1,000 guaranteed cash payout in effort to find the nation’s best players. BULZiBUCKET combines the game play of cornhole with a partner hacky sack assist element creating unparalleled fun and action. Teams will be seeded on a skill-based level through a pre-tournament skills challenge. Additionally, there will be at least 4 top seeded teams with byes through qualifying regional tournaments in PA (Philly), and NC (Asheville, and Charlotte). We will be teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Charlotte.
Top 5 finishing teams will be paid as follows:
1st Place: $500
2nd Place: $260
3rd Place: $140
Best Team Uniform/Costume: $100
Rules and Tournament Structure: Each tournament team will consist of two players. However, individuals may register and be paired with another "free agent" player on the day of the tournament. The "Assist It" style of play will be used for all tournament competition where team scoring is permitted from hacky sack saves with the foot or body. An assist play is only permitted/legal if the contact comes with the bag outside the large bottom bucket perimeter. Contact made above any part of the bucket will not be allowed to score a point on that play. Contact made outside the large lower bucket perimeter that results in a body part continuing over top of the bucket target is allowed UNLESS that body part makes contact with the bucket target in which case the point is dead. Bucket shooting distance will be set at 15 feet. Good sportsmanship is strongly encouraged as this event was intended for fun and fellowship. Aggressive verbal and/or physical behavior will not to tolerated during this event. BulziBucket has the right to disqualify or eject a player/team that does not show respect for others and act in a sportsmanly way. Ejected players will forfeit their rights to tournament winnings regardless of stage of tournament play. This tournament will max at 64 teams and will be open to the public to sign up. Regional tournaments will determine the highest seeded teams. Starting at 11:30 am, players will register and have time to practice prior to the skills challenge which will consist of both teammates throwing 6 bags at the bucket to score as many points as possible. Teammates will be allowed to assist one another to score points. The highest point value will get the highest seed below the regional champions. Players must complete the skills competition by 12:45 pm or they will be seeded at the bottom of the bracket. By 1:00 pm the final bracket will be set and play will begin promptly.
Parking and Getting Here: The tournament will be held at Lenny Boy Brewing Company located at 3000 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28217 in Charlotte's South End neighborhood, a short distance from downtown. The tournament games will be played in the brewery warehouse located adjacent to the Tap Room. Parking will be available (but limited) on location. Overflow parking available at Marie G Davis Middle School. Lenny Boy is located just a quick walk from the light rail New Bern Station (.3 miles).
Lodging: Out of town tournament guest will have the option to stay at one of the room block hotels offered by BULZiBUCKET. Hotel locations TBD. Lenny Boy Brewing Co. is located in the heart of South End neighborhood only 2.5 miles from downtown Charlotte, NC and easily accessible from the light rail making uptown lodging options convenient for the tournament.
Food and Drink: Beer and Kombucha will be available for purchase at Lenny Boy Warehouse bar available to tournament players and guests. A Food Truck will be onsite to purchase food and additional drink options. A snack bar will also be provided to offer tournament players additional food and drink options.
