Calling all community members, youth groups, scout troops, families and friends! Everyone is welcome!! Come help us raise awareness and money for the homeless of Southern Maryland. 100% of money raised will benefit Project ECHO, Inc.
The 7th annual Camp Out for Calvert event, hosted by People on the Go of Calvert County, will take place on Saturday, August 18 and 19th at Kings Landing Park. Participants will raise funds for Project ECHO by having others sponsor them to experience spending the night outdoors. There will be activities going on throughout the afternoon and evening ending with musical entertainment by Southern Maryland accoustic artist, James Cornett, & s’mores around the campfire.
Come hang out with us for the day or stay for the evening to camp! Overnight participants are expected to bring their own camping gear including tent, sleeping bag, camping chair, change of clothing and toiletries. If you do not have a tent or a sleeping bag, please reach out to us as soon as possible so that we may try to work out arrangements for you. Restrooms are available onsite.
Members of People on the Go will be grilling out Saturday evening and will have breakfast Sunday morning. Other participants should plan on bringing their own food, drinks and/or coolers (a grill will be available to use) or you may purchase meals from the camp out sponsor, People on the Go (cash only). The cost is $5 for dinner Saturday evening or $10 for dinner on Saturday, an evening snack as well as breakfast on Sunday. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan on purchasing meals.
There is a $1 per person charge (cash only) imposed by Kings Landing Park to camp for the night and should be paid to camp out sponsors upon your arrival to the park. Remember, this is a fundraising event. There is no minimum amount you need to collect to attend, but everyone is encouraged to raise as many donations as possible to benefit Project ECHO. Donations may be in the form of cash or checks. All checks should be made out directly to Project ECHO, Inc. All donations for Project ECHO will be collected upon your arrival to the park.
We will have the camp site closest to the equestrian ring. When you arrive at the park, follow the "Camp Out for Calvert" signs and make a left when you see the "People on the Go" banner. This will take you to the equestrian area. Registration will take place at the pavilion closest to the equestrian ring. From there, you will receive a park map and be shown where to set up your tent.
Once you have registered, you will receive an email containing an event flyer, all the above info and a sponsorship sheet. Please use this sponsor sheet to record donations for Project ECHO. Collect all donations in an envelope and bring with you to the camp out. All donations should be turned in upon your arrival, along with your $1 camping fee.
