The Longleaf Hotel, 300 N Dawson St., Raleigh, NC, 27603, United States.

With the shutdown of legacy papers, tightening of budgets, and rise of remote work, most cherished newsroom traditions have disappeared. But the ritual of ordering pizza on Election Night is going strong.

Still, The Food Section believes it could go stronger.

In keeping with its goals of strengthening local journalism and making meals more meaningful, The Food Section is mounting a Campaign for Better Election Night Pizza.

Join us for a blind tasting of pizzas from 10 leading Triangle pizzerias, and cast your vote for the best slice. On Election Day, 2024, The Food Section will deliver the winning pie to a dozen independent newsrooms within one hour of Raleigh.

This event was made possible by sponsorship support from The Longleaf Hotel and Weigl Communications.

The Food Section covers food and drink across the American South with the journalistic rigor and intellectual seriousness that the subject deserves. Launched in 2021, TFS has been named among the nation's best newsletters by the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Online News Association, NYU's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute and LION Publishers. Its reporting has been honored by the Society for Features Journalism and the James Beard Foundation, which in 2023 awarded TFS its Dining & Travel medal.
