Carve a spoon - two hour taster workshop at the Sydney Timber Tools & Artisan Show. Sunday morning workshop.

Wondering why everyone is carving spoons? Want to have a go? Well come along to the Sydney Timber Tools & Artisan Show and learn how to magic your own spoon from a tree!

This two hour taster workshop is a condensed version of our signature 'Carve a Spoon from a Tree' one day workshop. In this workshop you will start from an axed out blank and learn how to safely and effectively use a carving knife and hook knife to turn it into a beautiful and functional spoon.

Absolutely no experience is needed, and we provide all the wood and gear you need (we'll also be selling tools if you find yourself getting the spoon carving bug...many do!).

Minimum age: 16.

The Timber Tools & Artisan Show (formerly the Timber and Working with Wood Show) is a fantastic event held at the Rosehill Racecourse. The workshop will be held inside, away from the cold and while you are there you can experience some of the amazing arts and crafts on offer at the show.

Jeff Donne is one of Australia's best known spoon carvers and puppet makers. His roving woodcraft school has travelled across much of Australia, bringing traditional woodcraft skills to the big smoke and on to Tasmania, Alice Springs and many regional areas sprinkled throughout the land. With more than 20 years experience as a green woodworker, carver and puppet maker, Jeff teaches in a relaxed manner, helping students to enjoy and explore the many craftable things hidden in trees.
