SART; The PETS Act requires that all communities must provide a method for people to safely evacuate with their pets. The basis of this training is to draw attention to the human animal bond and its importance in a disaster where citizens might refuse to evacuate without their pets. This class explains the different types of pet shelters, and the role that CERT can play in helping EMD's and Animal Control Officers operate these shelters. We also discuss safety issues as it relates to behavior and working with different species.
Please note: All attendees must contact their respective CERT Team leaders and request that a “Approval of activation of Community Emergency Response Teams Under Title 28 form be completed and forwarded to the DEMHS Regional Coordinator prior to their participation.
