Kylie McDevitt started her career in technology by studying Engineering at ANU in the late 90s. She worked as a telecommunications engineer for Telstra before taking leave to have her children. In 2009, Kylie started working at the Australian Signals Directorate, where she migrated her established networking skills into the cyber security realm. While working for ASD, Kylie completed her Masters in Computer Networking and had the opportunity to attend many specialist industry training courses. Kylie is a founder of Australia’s largest hacker conference, BSides Canberra. Kylie has worked as a casual lecturer at University of New South Wales, teaching a postgraduate course in Cyber Defence. She has spoken at many industry conferences, including being invited to give a keynote presentation at AISA Cyber Conference on Zerotrust networking in 2021. After 12 years, Kylie resigned from ASD to pursue her dreams of cyber security community growth and education through her own company, InfoSect.
