“Rhythm,” as American dancer and musician Gabrielle Roth once said, “is the mother tongue.” Everyone can experience the magic, fun and stress-releasing benefits of a community drum circle, regardless of age, race, religion, ability, language or musical experience.
Bring your rhythmical spirit, and your drums, percussion instruments and dancing feet to Better Life Studios on Dupont for a family-friendly community drum circle. People of all ages and levels of musical and drumming expertise are welcome. You don't have to be a drummer to participate, or even own a drum - beginners are especially encouraged to attend.
NO MUSICAL OR DRUMMING EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED!
Drum circles are a fun & exciting way to connect with your friends, family, fellow community members & yourself through recreational music-making. Drum circles also create a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to participate at their own level, without any pressure or judgment.
Rufus Glassco, of Rhythm Kingdom, will be facilitating us through a variety of rhythms, games and activities that will help everyone learn the basics of hand drumming, as well as improvisation techniques, to feel more confident and ready to join one of the many recreational non-facilitated circles in Southern Ontario. And experienced drummers will enjoy the many rhythmic games, multi-layered rhythm songs, and the opportunity to play a much wider variety of percussion instruments that they would usually encounter at an un-facilitated drum circle.
Join us to drum, dance or just enjoy the incredible spontaneity of community drum circle music!
