The unmistakable laughter. The spirited discussions. The embrace of a brother. For many of us, these are the elements of DLP gathering that we hold close to our hearts. And they're exactly what has been missing over the past few years. After a tough, but necessary two-year hiatus from holding traditional, in-person conventions, we could not be more elated for what this summer will hold.
Join us in the heart of Atlanta from July 28-Aug 1 for Convention 2022! This year promises to be a true reunion of provisional chapters, chapters, and alumnx from all over North America that share our unique bond of brotherhood. We've got a lot of information below about the event...keep scrolling!
REGISTRATION
Registration for this year's Convention will once again be broken into tiers, with the lowest rates available to those who register over the course of the next few weeks. Once again, there will be separate categories for delegates, actives, new alumnx (those who have changed to alumnx status in DLP within the last 3 years - dating back to 2019), and alumnx/guests. It's worth noting that our active chapters are already being billed for 2 delegates (with the cost of registration and hotel accommodations covered by this charge - as per Section 9.7 of the Bylaws, added by decision of the 2020 Convention). Chapters will be given a special code to register their delegates by each Regional Director.
VIRTUAL OPTION
New this year - you will now have the option to watch and engage in some of the Convention 2022 happenings - such as the State of the Fraternity, workshops, the Business Meeting, and the Banquet - from wherever you are! We're pleased to offer this virtual experience for those who are unable to make it to Atlanta this summer. This flat rate registration will give you access to stream events live (schedule will be published ahead of time) and watch recordings at your convenience.
HOTEL
This year's event hotel is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Atlanta Centennial Park, located in the heart of downtown Atlanta near mass transit, restaurants, and attractions for all attendees to enjoy throughout the weekend. All rooms are 2-room suites at this property and include a FREE daily cooked-to-order full breakfast in Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for each guest, along with a complimentary evening reception featuring beverages and light snacks in the hotel atrium. There's also an on-site Starbucks, fitness center, and a rooftop pool. We've secured a special room block rate of $179/night (plus tax) for single-quad occupancy rooms.
With hotel rooms filling up quickly for summer travel, we encourage everyone to begin booking your stay ASAP! To access our Convention 2022 reservation site: https://www.hilton.com/en/attend-my-event/atleses-dlp-ee25df14-ab4b-40ca-bd3e-539edd9aeb71/
DAVID L. WEST CONVENTION ASSISTANCE FUND
The David L. West Convention Assistance Fund applications for Convention 2022, in Atlanta, are now OPEN. Created in 2012 and named in honor of Br. West (who pledged that any brother who wishes to attend Convention should not be barred due to financial inability), the fund provides financial assistance to those Brothers who don’t have the means to attend the Fraternity’s Annual Convention. Not to be confused with the Delphi Academic Scholarships, the application deadline for David L. West Conference Assistance Fund is Sunday, May 1, 2022. The fund’s primary form of assistance is to cover registration costs for recipients, meaning the cost is 'waived' for them. The recipient should expect to be responsible for all other costs, including travel to/from Convention, incidental costs, food (not including meals covered as part of registration), and any additional events that may cost above and beyond the registration fee (e.g. excursions or alumni outings). Alumnx Engagement can assist recipients in some regards to link to possible sources of support, but final support costs fall on the recipient. All awardees may have to volunteer time to the Fraternity at the Convention. Any member of DLP, not currently under suspension, is eligible to apply..
SAFETY
All event attendees are REQUIRED to be fully-vaccinated (2 shots + booster) against covid-19 unless having a qualifying medical exemption. Please upload your proof of vaccination when you complete your registration. All attendees will also be required to complete a rapid-test for covid-19 at on-site check-in in Atlanta (these will be provided by DLP as part of your registration fee). Masks will be required for public transportation and some indoor settings per CDC and local guidelines.
