Opening Statements & Closing Arguments
The United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, in partnership with the Roger Williams University School of Law and the Rhode Island Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, is proud to announce the tenth program in its Litigation Academy.
The program will take place at the federal courthouse and will provide hands-on training and lectures spread over four days, starting Monday, May 20, 2019, and ending on Friday, May 24, 2019. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to improve their trial skills in opening statements and closing arguments and receive 13.5 CLE credits, including 1 ethics credit.
The program is open to members of all state and federal bars.
The schedule for the program is:
Monday, May 20: 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lectures and Demonstration
Tuesday, May 21: 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lectures and Demonstration with a Reception to follow
Thursday, May 23: 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lectures and Practice Sessions
Friday, May 24: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Presentation of Openings & Closings
The cost of the program is $560 (including course materials).
Payment is required upon registration via credit card or PayPal.

Registrations cancelled by Monday, April 29, 2019, are eligible for full refund. No refunds will be issued after this date.
Some partial scholarships are available based on financial hardship from the Rhode Island Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. If you would like to apply for scholarship funding, please first contact the FBA at dwollin@hinckleyallen.com with a brief description of the nature of your law practice and a request to be considered for a scholarship. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be provided with a special code which should be used when you register for the program.
