Delivered by Elaine Biscoe:
"I have worked in many practices as a General Practice Nurse in my nursing career, starting in 1995 up to 2021. This included working for seven years as the Practice Nurse Manager at a large practice with a range of GPNs, HCAs and phlebotomists. I was responsible for all aspects of the nursing service. In 2014 I was appointed as the GPN adviser at the CQC. The role was created to ensure the nursing service was reflected in the CQC's regulatory approach. I also act as an expert witness in cases of alleged breach of duty against GPNs and sit on NMC Fitness to Practise panels as the registrant member. In the session, I will explain CQC's role in regulation of general practice with a particular focus on the role of the GPN."
