Child and Family Partners has been offering training and consultation to early childhood professionals and parents for over a decade! This latest offering from Child and Family Partners is in response to multiple discussions with graduates of our Family Partnership Certification Program. Feedback from graduates indicated that is one thing to learn about cultural responsiveness and cross-cultural awareness, but it is entirely something different to implement practices that truly identify, embrace and integrate a family's culture into family partnership plans, case plans or treatment plans. There are actual strategies you can learn and implement!
This training experience will be facilitated over two consecutive Fridays in March, the 4th at 11th. Your registration gets you access to both!
The first session, on March 4th, will present information on culture, its definition, its relevance to family partnerships and behaviors associated with cultural humility. Most critically, this session will offer participants actual strategies to implement for the week prior to the next session on March 11th, so that successes, challenges and questions resulting from implementing the strategies may be addressed.
The week of practice is what sets this experience apart from other training opportunities. Particpants will practice strategies discussed in the first session, then discuss and troubleshoot those strategies in the second session!
Tiernan McIlwaine, MA, MSW, will present the bulk of the information during each session. He has over 20 years of experience providing valuable training to parents and professionals and has worked with young children and their caregivers for over 30 years! Mr. McIlwaine is an innovative and fun presenter who makes each session educational and humorous!
