PLEASE NOTE, IT IS RECOMMENDED ALL 3 SESSIONS ARE ATTENDED. BY REGISTERING, YOU WILL BE SENT LOGIN DETAILS FOR ALL 3 OF THE BELOW DATES.
Tuesday 6th July - 12.30-13.30
1 hour – The different types of dementia.
This session will discuss the most common different types of dementia, why they are different and how you may recognise the different symptoms in daily life. It will also lightly touch on conditions that may ‘look like dementia’ and therefore the underlying message of the training is the importance of a full (memory clinic) diagnosis.
Tuesday 13th July - 12.30-13.30
1 hour – An introduction to the ‘unseen’ challenges of dementia and how to overcome them.
This session will give a short overview of how dementia care has evolved and the sometimes complex dynamic between the person with dementia and their spouse/relative/carer which may show during the surgery visit. The underlying message is to create awareness about what may play out privately, so tensions and awkward situations arising during the appointment can be better navigated.
Tuesday 20th July - 12.30-13.30
1 hour – An introduction to the complexity of sexuality within dementia care.
This session will address sexuality in later life, within relationships when a partner has dementia and unraffles UK law around the topic.
Participants will have a better understanding of UK law and the importance of appropriate case notes which could be used in Court of Protection proceedings.
The flow of the one hour sessions is informative with interactive poling questions in between and some open audience questions.
