Tim brings a keen eye for detail to BAO. He has 15 years' professional experience burying his nose in Excel sheets, Access databases, aggregate collection forms, cloud infrastructure, and ETL software of many stripes. Since joining BAO he has worked on myriad DHIS 2 implementations for many different countries, provided onsite training, and is currently a senior engineering manager on the PEPFAR project. He spends his time managing the development of both the primary data collection system (DATIM) and the data validation and processing infrastructure (PDAP). Additionally, he is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Vanuatu, where he spent more than three years providing IT education to the young and old alike. During his service, he worked with the WHO and Ministry of Health as they transitioned their HIS systems from Access to DHIS2. Training end users both in the capital and on remote islands, he was an essential part of growing the HIS competency of the MoH staff. Before his service in the Peace Corps, Tim worked as an ETL specialist for an insurance company, playing a vital role in bringing new business through automated, secure data exchange. He speaks English and Bislama and holds a BS in Business Administration from Oregon State University.

Sara Jacenko, MPH, is a health scientist within the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Global Health Center, Global Immunization Division, Strategic Information and Workforce Development Branch. Sara’s global and domestic public health expertise includes monitoring, evaluation, and program management. It spans various technical areas such as immunization, health systems strengthening, HIV/AIDS, and nutrition and physical activity. Sara is currently a senior evaluator for the Strategic Information team and designs and applies innovative and culturally and contextually appropriate mixed methods evaluation and research approaches. He heads Ghana’s Immunization program, having previously served as a Medical Officer, Clinical Research Officer, District Director of Health Service, Vaccine Safety & New Vaccine Coordinator. In 2012, he coordinated the simultaneous introduction of rotavirus and pneumococcal vaccines into Ghana’s Routine Immunization. He has helped to train many Public Health Specialists at the Ghana College of Physicians & Surgeons, where he was appointed Training Coordinator in 2015. His focus is on immunization, vaccine safety, public health surveillance and emergency response and has led several disease outbreak investigations and response activities in Ghana. He graduated BSc., MBChB from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology and holds an MPH (Ghana) and a Diploma in Health Systems Management (Galilee International Management Institute, Israel). In 2015, Kwame spent time at Yale, Connecticut, as a Post Graduate Associate in the Department of Pediatrics, where he completed the 2015 Research Fellowship Program. He also passed through Cambridge (UK) and the Albany Medical College (New York) for medical electives in 1998/99. Through his leadership, Ghana became the first country to receive and deploy COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility. Zaena joined RTI in August, 2022, and currently serves as the MERLA Analytics Manager for USAID’s Act to End NTDs East Program, which supports NTD control and elimination goals in 13 countries in Africa, the Americas, and Asia. In her current role, Zaena supports the management of all program data and reporting, and has played a key part in supporting the development of and transition to USAID’s new Neglected Tropical Diseases Information System (NIS), which utilizes DHIS2. Prior to her work with RTI, Zaena worked primarily with local health systems in the Washington, D.C. area, focusing on health promotion and chronic disease prevention among low-income communities, before receiving her MPH in Global Epidemiology from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. She then went on to work with the CDC Division of Global HIV and TB’s Epidemiology and Surveillance branch, supporting countries in East Africa and the Caribbean nearing HIV epidemic control with the implementation of HIV Recency surveillance and promoting recency data use for public health response. Zaena has a passion for improving data use and efficiency to promote informed and effective data-driven decision making and public health interventions in the global health space. Outside of work, Zaena loves spending quality time with her two rambunctious dogs, exploring the outdoors, and checking out the food scene wherever she is.

Samuel Rwunganira, an expert in epidemiology and data management, earned a master's degree in Epidemiology and completed the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) at the University of Rwanda. In 2021, he became the Coordinator for the DHIS2 Data Triangulation Project in Rwanda, focusing on harmonizing data sources for Vaccine-Preventable Disease surveillance. Samuel's leadership led to an advanced dashboard automating monitoring and decision-making. Before this role, he served as a Field Coordinator, guiding FETP students. From 2012 to 2021, he was a Non-Communicable Diseases Epidemiologist and Research Assistant at the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, contributing to program strategies and co-authoring articles. Samuel played a crucial role in the Covid-19 Task Force, managing a data team for pandemic response. His commitment to public health and data-driven decision-making has significantly impacted disease surveillance and epidemiological research in Rwanda.

Nicola is a 20-year seasoned international development and public health professional who has led or supported enterprise and global-level DHIS2 implementations since 2011. She has worked across diverse roles and functions, providing invaluable support to organizations in the international development digital sector, US Government and UN-based agencies. She is the founder and former Co-organizing Chair of the DHIS2 Symposium, a role that played a pivotal part in accelerating the widespread adoption of DHIS2 across the NGO sector, solidifying it as an industry standard for information systems. She has worked in over 20 countries across Latin American, Africa and Asia supporting implementing partners and ministries. In her current position at The Global Fund, Nicola leads the implementation of The Global Funds programmatic monitoring reporting system across grant recipient countries.

Zach Crosser is a monitoring, evaluation, and learning professional with more than five years of experience supporting international development projects. He currently serves as a Senior Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Advisor with JSI. His work on the MOMENTUM Knowledge Accelerator project focuses on monitoring, evaluation, and learning and capacity strengthening activities. Zach received his MPH from the Tufts University School of Medicine, concentrating in epidemiology and biostatistics. Prior to completing his graduate education, Zach was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the Philippines.

Marie is a consultant in public health information systems. She has more than 10 years of experience in information technology, supply chain management and project management in both the public and private sectors. Over the past few years, Marie has collaborated with NGOs such as Gavi, UNICEF, Africa Resource Center (ARC) and Aspen Institute supporting Ministries of Health in Senegal, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Cameroon. As part of these collaborations, she has worked in the management and optimization of the vaccine supply chain through Logistics Management Information Systems (LMIS), the evaluation of public health information systems and capacity building for Ministries team. Marie started her career in the public sector before moving to the private sector and joining Air Liquide where she held various positions within the West Africa Area. A software engineer by training, Marie is also a PMP® certified project manager from the Project Management Institute. Marie has volunteered with the Internet Society and the Air Liquide Foundation on social projects to support education and health in rural communities. In 2018, she won the Air Liquide Foundation’s award for social commitment after supporting the creation of a maternity hospital in a remote village in Sine Saloum (Senegal).

Jesse Speer is a Senior Data Analyst for the Neglected Tropical Disease Support Center (NTD-SC) at the Task Force for Global Health (TFGH). In this role, Jesse uses data analysis to fulfill standard and ad hoc information requests and reports, interpret and implement complex stakeholder requirements, and provide technical input on the development of information systems. Prior to joining TFGH, Jesse worked at RTI International, where he was responsible for routine reporting to USAID for the Act to End NTDs | East program and previously the ENVISION project. Jesse has applied his SAS expertise to analyze data from NTD MERLA activities conducted in over 20 USAID-supported countries, in order to facilitate accurate reporting and data use by multiple stakeholders. Prior to supporting USAID-funded NTD MERLA, Jesse worked as a statistician for other projects at RTI International. Prior to RTI International, Jesse worked as a statistician for the contract research organization, Social and Scientific Systems, focusing on toxicology studies. Jesse has over 6 years of experience in NTDs and over 8 years of experience in data analysis, coding, and statistics. Jesse received his Master of Statistics degree, with a concentration in Biostatistics, from North Carolina State University.
