Join Muppies DC for a forum-style event covering Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace. Three experts will facilitate mini-presentations and guided discussions surrounding the following topics:

  • Southeast Asian and African American History
  • How to communicate workplace discriminiation to management/HR effectively
  • How to be an ally to those who may be experiencing workplace discrimination
  • Identifying workplace biases and microaggressions 

 

SPEAKERS

Sumreen Ahmad, Global Change Management Lead, Accenture
Sumreen is a management consultant who focuses on leadership development, human capital and organization design, operational and business process improvement towards organizational maturity, and certifications and assessments. She is a passionate speaker about inclusion and diversity in the workplace, with a focus on women and interfaith in business.

Aaisha Hamid, MA, Corporate Diversity Professional, Author, Speaker
Aaisha's role as Inclusion Coordinator at Hogan Lovells enables her to be part of a small team that works to support and create a diverse and inclusive environment for all of the lawyers and business services professionals within the firm. She is in charge of completing the majority of quantitative and qualitative surveys for the Inclusion function, coordinating all internal diversity programming for their 29 affinity groups, co-managing the function’s social media, and leading a team of business services that assist with programming efforts across the Americas.

Sehar Minhas, MSW, Program Manager, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Sehar serves as the National Federal Women's Program Manager (FWP Manager), American Indian and Alaskan Native Employment Program Manager, and Student Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator within the VA. In these roles, she leads seminars and trainings and participates in studies and systemic analyses to identify barriers for specific groups. She is also responsible for helping the VA establish a pipeline for students and graduates to explore careers at the VA and to foster capacity building.
