Macro SW Shared Interest Group - Doctorate of Social Work (DSW): Is it Right for You?
Social workers can play an invaluable role as leaders in non-traditional settings due to our unique ability to view problems from a systemic and holistic perspective. This Shared Interest Group will bring together macro and mezzo social workers for a conversation on the Doctorate of Social Work degree, the requirements and process, and whether this degree is right for you.
Speaker Information:
Tiffany Timberman is part of the inaugural cohort in the DSW program at Simmons University. With an emphasis on anti-racist practice and social justice, the Simmons University DSW program focuses on leadership, advanced clinical practice, and teaching. Tiffany is currently exploring Eurocentrism and White supremacy in social-emotional learning and teacher perceptions of trauma-informed approaches. Additionally, Tiffany serves as the inaugural cohort student representative.
As the Mental Health Coach for Old Bridge School District, Tiffany supports educators' mental health and well-being through professional development and supportive counseling. She also volunteers as a Psychomancer for TakeThis.org, a gamer-focused non-profit working to end the stigma of mental illness in the gaming community and game developer industry.
Tiffany received her BSW and MSW from Stockton University and her post-graduate certificate in Adolescent Advocacy from Montclair State University. Tiffany enjoys reading LITRPG and Fantasy novels, is a student of contemplative practice, and has a cat named Boba who likes sleeping in the sink.
