Let's be real for a minute: Most assistant principals are never formally trained on how to best prevent and respond to discipline issues in the school setting. Be ready on day 1 with rubrics, decision trees, and knowledge to help you help kids!
Most assistant principals enter the gig hoping to gain leadership experience and support students, faculty, and staff in positive, innovative ways. However, when the school year starts, most of the work is focused on discipline issues.
Interestingly, many assistant principals learn how to address discipline issues from their principal. When we trace back to where their principal learned about addressing discipline issues, we find out they learned strategeis from whomever trained them (and so on). The end result is typically a weird, reactive "telephone game" of responses to discipline that tend to ignore basic principles of human psychology, school systems, and self-efficacy.
Join our experts in educational psychology and behavior to learn the "meat and potatoes" behind effective school discipline practices. Utlize our ready-to-use tools in your leadership Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and make a real difference in the lives of your students.
Ben Springer is an award-winning and National Certified School Psychologist. Join Dr. Springer for a candid review of best practices in school-based discipline and walk away with ready-to-use tools as an administrator.
