Pelham Library, 530, Village of Pelham, NY, 10803, United States.

This event is part of the Pelham Chases Space series.  It is geared toward kids in grades K-5, they will read aloud a short picture book about Leland Melvin's life and discuss his experiences.  The event will conclude with a craft related to Leland Melvin's life as an astronaut.

Pelham Chases Space is a year long, community wide celebration of STEM. This year the theme is based on the book Chasing Space by Leland Melvin.   Leland Melvin is a true renaissance man, his book chronicles his life as a NASA astronaut, a science education policy advocate, an NFL football player, and a material scientist.  Through this series we aim to highlight the science of space and how it is related to all disciplines including the humanities, science, math and the arts. This program is intended to bring together students of all ages K-12 as well as members of our community through a common experience.
