The future is already here in terms of technological innovation, but we are only beginning to understand its full impact. To truly grasp how these advancements shape our world, we must experiment, prototype, and explore the data-driven experiences that turn our physical environments into dynamic, ever-evolving spaces. In this talk, Carla Diana, a designer, artist, and educator who has created groundbreaking curricula at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Visual Arts, and Cranbrook Academy of Art, will explore how creative technology—through interactive objects, mixed reality, and robotics—is pushing the boundaries of design and transforming culture.
Drawing on case studies from her own studio work and her experience teaching at the intersection of design and technology, Carla will discuss how today’s designers weave together code, form, and electronics to craft meaningful, responsive experiences. From projection mapping to embedded electronics and 3D printing, these tools are creating new ways for us to interact with and understand the world around us. The key to discovering innovative solutions, however, lies in collaboration—where designers, engineers, and technologists come together to create, test, and refine their ideas.
This talk will also explore how creative spaces, such as hosq’s new hub, are playing a critical role in developing a democratic approach to technology. By offering education, grants, and opportunities for collaboration, hosq is positioning itself as a central player in the future of co-creation, helping to empower the next generation of designers and innovators.
Join Carla for an engaging conversation about the possibilities of creative technology, the evolving role of design in shaping our future, and the exciting opportunities for collaboration and innovation that are emerging at hosq and beyond.
