Develop skills to respond differently to every day emotional challenges

8 week course starts September 7 and takes place every Wednesday from 5:30pm to 7:45pm ET with the last class on October 26. There is also an "at-home retreat" day on Sunday, October 16 from 9am to 1pm ET.

 

Resilience is the ability to respond to adversity, something we all need in these challenging times. 

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Resilience (MBCT-R) is an evidence-based educational program shown to prevent depressive relapse and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. This course combines the practice of mindfulness with practical tools from cognitive therapy. 

In MBCT-R, youwill learn skills for responding to the anxiety and emotional challenges arising from our current situation. Through the practice of mindfulness you will learn to engage the body, mind and heart to relate differently to challenging thoughts and emotional distress, and to help you to care for yourself and cultivate resilience.

This live online program allows participants to engage with the instructor(s) and with each other. Please see below for testimonials.

Please note that MBCT-R courses will be recorded. Some participants are part of a research study which requires that recordings of the leader teaching are reviewed as part of the research. Individual private breakout sessions with peers will not be recorded. Your consent to be recorded during the large group is required, so if you do not feel comfortable with this requirement, you will not be able to participate in this group and we suggest you consider another CMC group. There will be an opportunity to participate in MBCT-R without the requirement for recording in several months when the research study is completed.

Discounts and Scholarships

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) patients and staff enrolled in the CHA MindWell Community Mental Wellness Program may be able to take MBCT-R for free. To be considered, please enroll in CHA MindWell. If CHA patients are eligible, then they will get a discount code to register when fee spots are available.

50% discounts for CHA staff and patients who are not enrolled in the CHA MindWell Program. Also, 30% discount for current applicants of our MBCT TTI program as this course is a pre-requisite. Please contact us at cmc@challiance.org for any of these discount codes before registering.

A limited number of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Discount Scholarships are available at a reduced rate of $100 (This is $550 off the regular rate of $650). Refund Policy

Full refund will be issued, minus $100 processing fee, for cancellation made up to two weeks before the start date of the training or course. 50% refund will be issued for cancellation in the period between two weeks and two working days before the start of the training or course. No refund is available if cancellation is within 2 working days before the start of the course or training or once program training materials are received. 

Clinical Review

Please note that course registration and payment do not constitute enrollment in the course. Registrants are considered enrolled in the course following Self Assessment submission, clinical review, and approval. The clinical review process is critical to ensure that the course content and community are an appropriate fit for each participant enrolled. Any registrant ineligible to participate following clinical review will be notified, unenrolled, and refunded in full prior to the course commencing.

Center for Mindfulness & Compassion and Cambridge Health Alliance
Jessika Scogland Bailey, MA, PsyD is a clinical psychologist at the CHA Primary Care Integration Behavioral Health Integration and prior postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion (CMC) where she was an Interdisciplinary Health Equity Scholar and contributing team member to the development of a resilience-focused mindfulness model of care in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Scogland received her masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University and her undergraduate degrees in International Affairs and Spanish from Northern Arizona University. Her research, clinical, and teaching areas of interest include mindfulness, mind-body interventions, multiculturally adaptive models of care, group interventions, integrative health psychology, psychooncology, geropsychology, cognitive rehabilitation, neuropsychology, LGTBQ+, and end of life care.

Teresa Yeh, LCSW has a MSW from Boston College and a MA in Conflict Resolution from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She grew up in multiple countries and recognizes the important influence larger social contexts have on individual wellbeing. Teresa finds profound value in contemplative practice and is drawn to healing modalities that honor the connection between mind, body, and spirit. She is excited to deepen her experience as an Advanced Fellow with CMC integrating mindfulness and compassion into her work with others. In her free time, Teresa enjoys dancing, biking, yoga, laughing with friends & family, and spending time in nature.
