A visit to Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a journey into the heart of the Everglades ecosystem. Vinny Colucci will guide you through the rugged beauty of this famed natural area on Corkscrew’s famous boardwalk – a 2.5-mile adventure through pine flatwoods, wet prairie, around a marsh, and finally into the largest old growth Bald Cypress forest in North America. Boxed lunches are included. Departs FGCU at 7:00am; returns to FGCU at 12:00pm.
Enjoy a day on the water with Keynote Speaker, Lisa Langell. The day will start at the historic fishing shacks on the Pine Island Sound. The location provides a close experience with the quaint shacks and the birds that use their docks to rest. After, the boat will make a stop at an island restaurant for a mid-morning rest break before heading to the Boca Grande Lighthouse. Boxed lunches and water are included; purchases made at the restaurant stop are not included in the ticket price. Check in starts at the Pineland Marina (13921 Waterfront Drive, Bokeelia, FL 33922) at 7:00am; the boat departs promptly at 7:30am; boat returns to the marina by 12:30pm. Please note: No restrooms are available on the boat. Tickets will not be available to purchase on site.
This Master Class will show you how to capture beautiful, artistic images of flowers, and will jump start your creativity. Learn how to shoot like a pro. You will create your own masterpieces, and will learn to see things more artistically using line, shape, and color. You will also learn how to recognize “good” light and how to use it; learn the freedom of working without a tripod; learn selective focus, how to control the background, and how to break rules effectively. Expand your creativity! A whole new world of photography, creativity, and fun opens up when you break the boundaries of traditional imagery and explore photographing abstracts! Abstract photography is all about taking the everyday objects and transforming them into something creative and mostly unrecognizable in comparison to their original form. Through instruction, hands-on work, and inspiration from your instructor and fellow participants, you will learn how to apply basic compositional guidelines while using a variety of lenses to create abstract images using motion blur, patterning, contrast, shadows, color theory, textures, edges, and more to design images that are artistic, ethereal, and fun! Using his KISS IT (Keep It Super Simple) techniques, Joe will show how to create flattering portraits with simple lighting and posing techniques. Working with a model and makeup artist, Joe will cover every aspect of making a great portrait form planning through execution! Attendees will have an opportunity to try their hand and photograph the model as well. This program covers the A-Z of basic to intermediate digital photography. Learn about aperture for depth of field and shutter speed for freezing action or implying motion. Exposure and reading the histogram properly will be covered as well as the basic rules for composition of subjects. Learn the proper lens selection for different photographic situations as well as a review of the shooting modes of your camera, such as matric and evaluated metering, aperture priority, shutter priority, and manual. We will also cover shooting in raw versus jpeg and which one might be best for you!
