Finding True North: A Comprehensive Approach to Treating Complex Trauma

Workshop Description:

As professionals, we will all encounter survivors of on-going/childhood trauma on our caseloads, whether known and stated or dissociated and unknown. Yet, as common as it is in society and in our offices, understanding and addressing the unique treatment challenges that come from childhood abuse and neglect can be overwhelming, disturbing, and confusing, as it is often barely touched upon in graduate training. Developing a solid theoretical framework is the key to successful integration of traumatic stress. In this 3 hour workshop, we will cover these objectives

Course Objectives:

  • Explore the core tasks and structure of complex trauma therapy for developmental trauma survivors
  • Discuss interventions and modern approaches to healing for each core task
  • Weave an understanding of the relational model through all of the content, as the most important thread in healing from trauma

Audience:

  • Professional Counselors
  • Social Workers
  • Subtance Use Counselors
  • Marriage and Family Therapists
  • Psychologists
