Koreshan features over 300 acres of restored buildings exhibiting turn of the century living, and Keith’s experience with abandoned buildings is sure to make this workshop fascinating! A visit to Audubon’s Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is a journey into the heart of the Everglades ecosystem. Michael Milicia will guide you through the rugged beauty of this famed natural area on Corkscrew’s famous boardwalk – a 2.5-mile adventure through pine flatwoods, wet prairie, around a marsh, and finally into the largest old growth Bald Cypress forest in North America. Join Jackie Kramer in the Naples Botanical Gardens! As you walk through, she will point out what attracts her to certain subjects and not others. You will look at how to approach the flowers and learn to become discerning and to search for pleasing subjects, lighting, compositions, and backgrounds. She will go over selective focus, and shoot through techniques. She will also demonstrate how to shoot multiples and textures for those who are more advanced. Lensbaby loaners will be available. Explore the the night skies with Robert L. Chaplin at the Fort Myers Beach Pier. The moon will be waxing at 95% and the workshop will focus on shooting the moon and use of moonlight for night photography, including some time-lapse. Lighting doesn't have to be difficult, and even in the bright Florida sun there is beautiful light to be made using natural reflectors or handheld reflectors. Joe will show you how to find the beautiful light to shape and flatter your model. He will cover the art of finding good light at any time of the day, how to recognize great backgrounds when you see them, and how to turn a horrible background into a work of art. Joe will also cover prep and posing of your subjects to create magnificent natural light images. Recommended Equipment: A Desire to be Creative! Pen and Pad for Taking Notes and Camera with Portrait Lenses (ideally short to medium length telephoto fixed focal length or prime). Olympus camera and lenses will be on hand for your to try out if you are "Olympus Curious!" This session will be held in Sugden Hall, Room 111 on Friday March 6th from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. During this workshop you will learn how to see light and composition and how to capture truly unique images that will open up your artistic vision. Art will help you to grow in your creativity and knowledge and photographically. This workshop includes hands-on experience outside the classroom on campus.
You will learn the key underlying concepts that are critical to understanding how to use flash effectively in the field. Topics will include the inverse square law, front vs. rear sync, high-speed sync, flash zoom, manual vs. automatic flash, main vs. fill flash, and flash exposure composition. This session will be held in Cohen Center, Room 114 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm on Friday March 6, 2020. Tickets are non-refundable.
Unlock your creative potential and discover how to craft impressionistic-looking photographs using nothing but your digital camera or smartphone. Charles will describe the process of using long-exposure and multiple-exposure techniques to transform everyday scenes into unimaginable visual masterpieces. His program will begin with a short inspirational slide show, followed by a nuts-and-bolts approach to learning techniques such as, Long-Exposure Pan/Tilt, “Multiple-Exposure Monet” (a technique Charles invented), Multiple-Exposure Rotate & Zoom, Soft-Glow Montage and Composite Montage. He will also explain how to use a free script in Photoshop to accomplish this same look, if your camera does not have built-in multiple-exposure capability. You’ll learn how to see in new ways and take your photography to an entirely new, mind-blowing level! This session will be held in Sugden Hall, Room 208 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm on Friday March 6, 2020. Tickets are non-refundable.
