From research to aerial inspections to promotional photography -- drones can be useful for an array of university undertakings.   But can anyone use one anywhere on NU’s campuses?  Who decides when and where?  Does the FAA care?   Please join Taskin Padir from the College of Engineering, Alex Wittich from Risk Services and Barbara Healy Smith from the Office of the General Counsel on October 6 at 1pm in the Alumni Center for a lively discussion of the use of UAS (aka “drones”) at Northeastern.

We will discuss drone projects at NU - how they not only enhance research capabilities, but how they themselves can also be the subject of research.  We’ll also discuss how they can also provide critical information about our infrastructure and great perspectives of our campuses for our website and brochures. We’ll cover NU’s new policy and the current regulatory environment governing the unmanned aerial systems.   If you are a drone user or contemplating using a drone for university purposes, sign up to learn more.
