FOSTER WORKSHOP

Focused Operational Support Training for Engineering and Research

Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Technology is a critical component of the Research and Education (R&E) ecosystem.  These dedicated resources offer capabilities and services in the form of high-speed capacitors and pathways for research data to advance innovation across several disciplines.  A pre-condition for the operation of these CI components is understanding the impacts they pose for a campus: the requirements for operation, use, and long-term maintenance.  Many of these new approaches and tools differ from those of traditional enterprise IT solutions, often causing a knowledge gap for the engineering community that must be filled with CI specific training materials and experience.

The Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), in collaboration with Keystone Initiative for Network Based Education and Research (KINBER) and Arcadia University is coordinating this training opportunity to bridge the knowledge gap in operating CI technology.  This interactive workshop will feature presentations on R&E routing, policy, performance, and tools.  The end goal will be immediately applicable experience in using new technology to support research communities at the home institutions of participants.  This event brings together researchers from the campus, IT support personnel, and regional networking staff, to better understand and support scientific innovation and deliver technically sound solutions.
