Five days of diving deep into the world of plants, we will explore every-thing from the ground up, the relationships plants have with the soil and the rest of life on earth, and how to protect these relationships and support them. We will adventure into primary natural forest to witness and learn the social structures of trees and how they communicate and work together to stay alive and thrive, you will learn the roles of individual plant families in the great web of life, and with all this knowledge you will learn how to create forest gardens, a thriving environment that supports both nature and man in symbiosis, a garden that heals the soils, sequesters carbon and produces huge yields of food. We will lead you through all the steps from design to a maintenance, and even nursery techniques for growing your own trees and plants so you can start your own forest or make a living selling trees. We will show you how to improve the soil, with techniques ranging from biochar, compost making and compost teas. You will bear first hand witness to the universe of soil life. We will frolic in an established food forest so you can see its bounty for your-self.
If creating your own food forest is not an option for you, we will share with you wild foraging techniques, and help you to develop your nature awareness so the world can be your garden.
Forest gardens are our human heritage and our future, come with us and see for yourself.

Atitlan Organics is a small-scale, highly diversified, super low-input, direct-to-consumer, downright ninja farm. Growing food for 5 restaurants and over 20 families, Atitlan Organics is productive landscape that lends itself beautifully as a rich learning environment. The nearby Bambu Guest House is a natural building made of all bambu, stone, wood, and lime plasters. The farm to table restaurant is integral to the whole experience, as the food we are growing and harvesting is also nourishing us as we learn about new alternative options for living and culture.
