Nuran

Nuran is a multi-award winning commercial photographer from Sydney and is a Master of Photography from the AIPP. In 2015 and 2016 he was awarded the coveted EPSON NSW AIPP Travel Photographer of the Year for images which included some from recent trips abroad. 
 
He is a well-respected teacher of photography, having taught at a number of prestigious institutions including the Art Gallery of NSW, Australian Centre for Photography and TAFE Sydney. His photographs have been selected as a finalist in prestigious awards such as ‘Head On’ and SMH’s ‘Shoot the Chef’. 
 
In broader circles, he is known for his exhibitions and lectures that combine his first loves of philosophy and history with his photography work. He recently published a book, “Persia to Iran “. He leads tours and conducts photography workshops in Australia and overseas. Nuran’s imagery of historically and culturally significant sites in Iran, especially as it relates to the UNESCO heritage protection program, has been featured at the Art Gallery of NSW, Hair of the Dog Photography Convention Brisbane, in Istanbul and Tehran. 
 
Recently Nuran has begun to mix his love of food with his travel workshops. His experience, food knowledge, passion and commitment, has conditioned and sharpened his talent as a specialized and skilled photographer, that can bring any project to its best with the slightest of ease. 
 

Workshop Information:

Whether you are a foodie posting on social media, a blogger, a small business owner wanting to learn how to take better pictures of food, this workshop is for you.
 
Learn how to perfectly capture the character of the food – leaving the viewer wanting for the culinary experience. The main focus of this workshop is choosing the right angles, elements of composition and how to enhance the photograph using lighting techniques. All images will be tethered to a large screen for discussion and review.
 
In this workshop, Nuran is going to work with his wife, Christine. A healthy food enthusiast who recently discovered the power of the Instagram and developed a reputation for her styling. Her instragram  is mrschrissyeats

  • The importance of placement and lighting
  • Techniques for different foods
  • Off camera flash and constant light
  • The importance of white balancing and the effect of different light sources
  • Post production techniques to enhance colour and the overall effect of the photograph
