Historic Preservation 101 for Nashville Realtors & Developers

Robin Zeigler is the historic zoning administrator for the Metro Nashville Historic Zoning Commission. She was formerly senior historic preservation planner for the Planning Division of the Salt Lake City Corporation and the preservation planner for the City of Bowling Green in Kentucky. While in Kentucky, she served as the vice-chairperson of the state-wide non-profit, Preservation Kentucky and was an adjunct professor at Western Kentucky University. Currently she is a National Alliance of Preservation Commission’s trainer (Commissioner Assistance and Mentoring Program) and serves on the Training Committee. She is a past co-chair of the organization’s biennial conference and a former board member. She has presented the Historic Preservation 101 for Realtors in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama and West Virginia. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University’s Public History Program where she worked for the Center for Historic Preservation and the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area.

Jenn Harrman graduated from the School of the Art Institute with a Masters in Historic Preservation where she focused her studies on preservation-sensitive development. Following her degree, she worked for the National Trust for Historic Preservation at the modern icon the Farnsworth House managing the tour program and special events including INsite, an internationally acclaimed light and sound installation which received recognition from the Americans for the Arts as best in 2014. In Nashville, Jenn served as the Associate Director of the Tennessee Preservation Trust prior to recently taking on new challenges as the New Media Specialist at Metro Water Services. She has been a member and volunteer with Historic Nashville, Inc. since she moved to Nashville in 2014 and currently serves as the president.

I landed in Nashville in 1976, fresh out of grad school with a MA in Architectural History, and began working with the Metro Historical Commission. My job was to help revitalize historic neighborhoods. I cut my Nashville teeth in East Nashville, Germantown, Richland-West End, Belmont and Lower Broad. I went from there to marketing, where I spent twenty-five years concepting, designing, and writing cool stuff for all sorts of clients – helping them identify their unique brands, and promote their products and services. Along the way, I’ve done my share of volunteering – mental health, the arts, children’s issues, local government – working to make my small corner of my adopted home town a better place. I like to help and it has all lead to Village. I’m wrapping my in-depth experience of the city, my ability to promote and sell, and my concern for people and community into a client-focused real estate practice. All that, plus this: Life should be fun.
